Hillside House
The Hillside House sits atop a wooded lot with a very steep incline. It hovers lightly, much like a tree, lifting the house over a garden that traverses through the plot and by doing so also avoids the existing trees and conserves the natural state of the land. After entering the garage and descending a flight of stairs that surrounds a tree, a bridge is crossed to enter the house, arriving at a volume that contains the public spaces and library. After a second descent, one arrives at the family room, and at this point the circulations are divided: one way leads to the private areas through a bridge; a second stairway leads to the music studio.
